The CPSRA was founded in 2000 by league coaches to promote public high school rowing in Connecticut. The regatta is held each year on Lake Waramaug in New Preston, CT. The lake has a six-lane, fully-buoyed 1,500m course. Originally there were six teams racing in a final-only format. This year there will be 13 teams racing over 12 events. There will be morning heats and afternoon finals for almost all of the events. The regatta offers medals for the top three crews in each category that is fully subscribed. There are trophies for the winner in the varsity events. There are also team point trophies for the overall winners of the eights and fours. The next regatta will be held on Sunday May 18, 2025.
The Fred Emerson Points Trophy is give yearly to the team that has the greatest point total for the CPSRA regatta in the Eight’s events. Fred Emerson was instrumental in the beginnings of many of the public school rowing programs in Connecticut.
